Week 6

This week's subject is XML. Not having any background in mark-up languages, I did not understand the readings well. Using my limited experience with HTML, I was able to comprehend how the tags define the structure of an XML document. The other aspects of XML mentioned in the readings I did not comprehend until examples were given during the lecture.

I now understand how the DTD determines what tags are used and how they are structured. This flexibility concerning the naming of tags an aspect of XML that I appreciate. As long as one knows how to struture the DTD, there is no necessity to learn a standardized set of tags such as those used for HTML. At this time, I am still learning about the unique characteristics and applications of XML, so it is difficult for me to state anything else about the subject.

The photos were taken among the Mexican War Streets during a visit to the Mattress Factory.

Flickr is a service that I have not used before this assignment. I did not find learning how to upload the photographs to be difficult. Most of the initial confusion I experienced was clarified with by exploring the various links of the site. The biggest puzzle I had to solve was displaying the photographs on Flickr. Once I had established the URL, this problem was resolved.
